
Dr. Cheryl Pritlove is an Investigator at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, Lead of the Patient and Community Engagement Team at SPHERE (an Ontario SPOR Support Unit), and an Assistant Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, where she teaches a graduate-level course in qualitative research methods.
Dr. Pritlove is a critical qualitative methodologist and health equity researcher, with specific interests in person-centered care, social and political determinants of health, health policy, and health system transformation. Her research sits at the intersection of health science, social science, political science, and visual arts, bringing an interdisciplinary approach to addressing complex health system challenges. She has collaborated extensively with international researchers, industry partners, government stakeholders, health system leaders, and patients and community members to advance equity in healthcare accessibility, quality, and safety. Her current work focuses on the co-development of EDI–driven tools that support meaningful multi–interest-holder engagement in health system priority setting, decision-making, and policy development to address some of the health systems most pressing challenges – including the healthcare workforce crisis and widening gaps in care.
Dr. Pritlove’s research has resulted in nearly 40 peer-reviewed publications, including a first-authored paper in The Lancet, it has been policy influencing, and has received international attention, including invited talks at Harvard University and International Summits, as well as an invitation to serve as the EDI Lead for a highly-ranked international diabetes journal.
